T-64 #Usmle #Patho 23 yo caucasian male w/ ch hepatitis

P/E of a 23 y/o caucasian male w/ chronic hepatitis reveals corneal changes that are visible w/ naked eye as shown on the picture below.

  1. The above picture demonstrates Kayser Fleischer Ring which is pathognomic to the wilsons disease. In wilsons disease the copper is also deposited in the basal ganglia, and occasionally in the pons, medulla and the thalamus. Hence the above patient will also have basal ganglia atrophy.
